We are one of the few orthodontic practices in South Africa that practises lingual orthodontics on a full-time basis. Lingual braces, or otherwise known as hidden or invisible braces, are the only non-visible form of fixed orthodontic treatment available. These braces are secured behind the teeth where they cannot be seen.
The perfect solution for people who are consistently in the public eye or children going through adolescence, Lingual braces ensure that patients enjoys their normal smile during the treatment programme. These braces are custom-made to each patient and our team is qualified and trained in the required techniques, special instrumentation and equipment.
The new, smaller generation of Lingual braces has less effect on the tongue and speech and most patients are good candidates for lingual braces. We follow an intense treatment programme, with adults, which focus on frequent visits to enable regular control and good results within a shorter time period. Depending on the severity of the case, we can cut the treatment time to 14 - 18 months. In severe cases we combine regular treatments with a surgical approach, which ensures excellent results in an even shorter time period.
Our practice regularly attends the congresses of the European Society of Lingual Orthodontists (ESLO) and the American Society of Lingual Orthodontists (ALOA) to discuss new treatment options and advanced technology and we boast the latest in digital x-ray systems.
